When living turns upside-down resting down out of bright sun and habituating the night life on eve brimmed with daily ドーブラエ・ウートラ and post meridiem activities. If it was to exclude school, then apparently I’m already living a vampire stripped out the needs of blood and abilities myself. While being a vampire sounds conveniently interesting and exceptional in many ways, things don’t as smooth as expected go with discrimination pointed out on each path, drawing a line of problem between races of daytime and nighttime. Vampire relation as the focal point expended, thus elaborated in each heroines’ own distinction which all unthinkably entitled in the cover itself, DRACU-RIOT!
Took place on an artificially built floating huge island connected to the mainland merely by a long neck of single bridge. The town where vampire and human live together, 海上都市 – Aqua Eden, said purposely built surrounded by sea to restrict vampire who’s weak against seawater. Here the protagonist, Mutsura Yuuto began his nightlife after turned into a vampire by incident, enrolled in school for vampire Tsukinaga Gakuin and work as Public Moral Group under Yin-Yang Bureau. Yuuto’s body was special where vaccine to negate vampire virus didn’t work on him, hence infecting him and woke him up as vampire, or specifically Lycanthrope who’s able to use multiple abilities. From what I saw, this one active protagonist was a sweet-talker to annoyingly full of exaggerated lies degree, able to accept anything kindly without any doubt whatsoever somehow taught me suspicious wheter this guy is a natural-born nobleman or I-don’t-care-of-your-problem-it’s-okay-as-long-I-play-the-good-guy hedonist. Well, certainly he was in fact a kind man, but excessively emphasized that it’s actually drop the interest. The way he itty-bitty argued every small talks while accept it at last was amusing though.
The story is parted into several sections on their own chapter. The common route, the usual portion for icebreaker and daily comedy, is short with main problem concerning L drug targeted to vampire, keeping all the unraveled matters for the long main routes started at chapter 5 along with repetitive details of Lycanthrope problem. Honestly, following all the small details in the story wasn’t as lighthearted as previous read, not to mention I fell short being unmotivated in the common route thanks to half-way manga spoil. At some point the flow of conversation was thought-provoking which the reason of the matter was left for reader’s conclusion. Up the intriguing part that’s hard to digest mostly for a non-native like me, a lot of slangs and metaphors were being spit out excessively. Naturally, my lack of information regarding those rendered me unable to translate the implicit and take the wordplay.
There’s Mirai here and there for whatever reason I don’t know, but there’s only one animated background that was in the monorail. Pretty awkward that that one is animated while the everyday used bg were full of static figure of people. The best feature here was but very small point gap of frequent sprites changes. Instead of normally change the sprite before a character starts to talk to match the expression ‘once’, the sprite keeps changing as needed along the lines. Amazing presentation in compromise of lip-sync and eyes-blink, enhancing the liveliness of gameplay. For the back log feature, I never came across this kind of back log which is very useful with its jump as you like button on every single line, seriously just how many times I did jump back to a certain part, not to mention it previews what the screen shows on that line at hover on the jump button. The auto-hide of menu is nice too, keeping a clean non-distracting text area.
The opening movie is exceptionally great, although off-tracked a little too much from being a VN op. But yeah, it worth praises for making it streamlined with the actual content – bit of leak in different form – and graphic as well.
布良梓 – Mera Azusa, small imouto-kind of looks dorm superintendent. Always countered innocently against H talks, though not that she had knowledge of them. She’s the only human among those stay the dorm and with that her route was rather complicated on a different league, judged after accomplishing all the other routes. To suddenly dumped with most key point of the existence of Lycanthrope itself numb me unprepared, though the main reason beside the hard to follow sequence of the real Lycanthrope’s past, is that I just couldn’t seem to enjoy the route ascribe to my nil taste on the route itself. While trimming the romance less and focus more to the Lycanthrope, the ‘riot’ – both way – didn’t expressed clearly, lack of tension and imaging details, drop them impact-less. The main point is how human and vampire can be together, from the past of Anna Reticule and Ougi Motoki, also the relation with Azusa. From what I saw, the romance part was no longer on the protagonist’s side, but rather on the supporting characters themselves. Too bad, small Azusa. Long story short, it felt strangling that I was planning to reread after patch the tl, but apparently got no luck. Let it be and me with vague comprehension of this.
稲叢莉音 – Inamura Rio, pure honest and rustic naive. A kind girl who’s lack of H knowledge, though skillful at chores. More to it, her innocent cuteness overflows that her existence is already a crime in its own right. For the bonus, her voluptuous kyonyuu wonderfully is the real lethality. For God’s sake, she is one another blessing of an ideal waifu. Favoredly said, complete with the best playful high-spirited leitmotif being the most nerve-easing soundtrack, Rio route is the most amusing and enjoyable of all, as well funny especially how she hilariously fail at recreating suggestive girl appeal situation from Elina’s manga. And the time where she’s troubled by deep kiss and paizuri, just recalling it puts my mouth into a grin. Not to mention the romantic scene after multi-abilities exhibition prior to dayspring. The development touched upon the matter of Lycanthrope factor, which coincidentally not only contained in Yuuto, but Rio as well, making them two pseudo-Lycanthrope. A rather rare chance how similar they were in many aspects, regarding that they both were humans-turning-vampire-turning-Lycanthrope, orphans, and treated from illness. Romantic scene didn’t stop in the middle, the last one prior to the ending was truly a heart-warming spectacle. Impressive that they managed to stay on their feet with life built from a unified database, doesn’t sound funny at all imagining how my way of life and inhumane secrets being known even only to one person. Too generous of a service, the epilogue featured the wedding of Rio and Yuuto, the most advanced step from the others I couldn’t wish more.
エリナ・オレゴヴナ・アヴェーン – Elina Olegovna Obeh, Russian vampire active daily on her indecent talks and writhing cutely on the H. She’s a vampire who sucks on vampire blood to be able to use her electric manipulation ability. Started by Elina’s unknown dependency which involved her long king Russian researcher, ソフィーヤ (Sofia) helping her despite betrayal to her own country. Did, I have suspicion on Sofia at first, but seeing her really dedicated to save Elina was quite a touching feeling even Yuuto’s kindness didn’t compare. The problem then turned around to Yuuto once he being a Lycanthrope got leaked and the game changed to cat-and-mouse play which involved dormitory fellows helping around. Hardly any romance, but rather the value of friendship stealing the attention, far to the epilogue.
矢来美羽 – Yarai Miu, this one was quite a weirdly unique one and funny-looking of a chara. A self-proclaimed M adult whose behavior was tricky to conceive. Had always awkwardly pretend to be a proper adult who’s informed about adult matter, but in fact, she’s not, as long as her misconception. That which was clearly seen how this calm-looking vampire getting flustered while forcing herself talking of sensitive subject (処女のくせに). Got it twice she emphasized that she’s not an S, but M. In retrospect, the way she flushed herself with shameful word to a certain degree certainly sounds M-esque, but getting closer to the peak, it’s confirmed that Miu was more of an S. She could be desperately bold at times, and yeah, that forced hot passionate kiss plus deep was a vein-raising enough a surprise. And then there’s this mout-to-mouth feeding think I drooled over that one. Wonder if Miu route is actually a locked one at first since the circumstances appeared like as if I’d accomplished the other routes, like L researcher didn’t go deep the matter, casual revelation of Elina’s and Rio’s ability, Moeka’s hacking, Motoki’s ‘no-sweat’ behind-the-shadow participation – which was coolest of him, well I do think he’s a cool outstanding guy, perfect just if not with his peculiar taste -, and Anna’s health condition. The main matter this time concerned a mass destruction of Aqua Eden at crucial time caused by the last case of synthetic blood which was planned by government in Vampire Countermeasure Committee, if I perceive it right. It’s like an all-out war that it became interesting. It’s touching, seeing understanding relation between vampires and humans highlighted once here. The ending should’ve reached the awesome point, just if the way they handled the last interception was much more sophisticated which able to draw a feeling of magnificent satisfaction of more than a well done work.
ニコラ・ケフェウス – Nicola Cepheus, with early revelation of being a reverse-trap, the chuuni vampire-cosplaying-vampire guy was overhauled into a beautiful charming princess with otherworldly kyonyuu soon after fall for Yuuto. She’s more of an extra, unique route achieved similarly through Rio route’s choices, with story not as long as the main 4 heroines. Or rather hers was too short that the matter with her grandpa felt so insignificant and obviously I didn’t get enough of her lovely act and homemade bento.
Upon accomplishing this, feel a lot that I missed that makes everything doesn’t correlate each other. Nice comedy, good story and great romance, but certainly the details of serious matter were lost in-between language barrier. Well, I did kind of rushing to the ending and somewhat care less the complicated parts, though still got a feeling it’d be the same even though I carefully arranged the meaning and think over it. Regardless fun dating time and impressive storyline, guess I took this not on the right time.
